Yes, Nelumbox covers all common and for cold chain required pharmaceuticals relevant temperatures, such as 2 – 8°C / 35,6°F – 46,4°F and 15 – 25°C / 59°F – 77°F, but Nelumbox is capable of more:

Nelumbox covers the temperature ranges for most cold chain relevant concerns: 2 – 8°C / 35,6°F – 46,4°F and 15 – 25°C / 59°F – 77°F, but is not limited to cooling. Nelumbox is able to heat as well. This unique advantage is most useful in times the outer temperature drops far below 0°C / 32°F, in which case Nelumbox will heat energy efficiently and keep the temperature inside between the required 2 – 8°C / 35,6°F – 46,4°F or more. This way we can assure that your valuable content is save even if you are travelling to Germany, Siberia, North- or South Pole.

Because of this technology Nelumbox is capable of incubating at a temperature of 37°C / 98,6°F and can even heat up to a maximum of 55°C / 131°F. Furthermore, Nelumbox can be set on a custom temperature range from 2°C – 55°C / 35,6°F – 131°F. If held stationary even smallest temperature ranges are possible.

How Nelumbox got its name

In the beginning was the box. Without name your product does not stand the slightest chance and moreover you want to give your own child a name, right? Cooler, climate box, cool, safe, ice, ice -cube ice-box , polar bear, penguin or itrinugaa [ 1 ]? Hm does not knock my socks off. So more endless Google searches. All animals of the Arctic and Antarctic are already scoured besides all others that only remotely put their paw or claw on frosty ground.

Good thing that a job as onboard courier to China was waiting for me. Maybe that would free the deadlocked thought and fire the imagination. After many hours of flight and the work being done I still had some time to explore the city in search of something edible before heading back to Germany. I was still waiting for an enlightenment.

The best ideas come while eating

Since my stomach was already audibly complaining, I chose the road snacks strung like pearls on a necklace at the roadside. On a stand with strange perforated discs of some kind of vegetable in the window I stopped. What I made out of the more or less English word chunks of the seller, this strange form was the sliced root of a lotus flower.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating and so for me there was a plate of spiced and grilled lotus roots. What a delicious taste! Gorgeous what you can do with it. Let’s see what more there is to that magic flower. And so I scoured the web for further secrets of the lotus flower. One article struck me:

The Lotus flower or with its Latin name Nelumbo is as few other plants capable of regulating its. As researchers at the University of Adelaide found out in a study Nelumbo can maintain the temperature of its bloom at constant 30 ° C, although the outside temperature is only 10 ° C].

I could not help but grin. Here it was! The name for my project: The NELUMBOX .

The 120,000 kilometers to China were really worth it.
